{"id":86844,"date":"2004-12-31T04:45:00","date_gmt":"2004-12-31T04:45:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/a1d7db6f-1dfb-11e4-aedf-250bc8c9958e"},"modified":"2004-12-31T04:45:00","modified_gmt":"2004-12-31T04:45:00","slug":"a1d7db80-1dfb-11e4-aedf-250bc8c9958e","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/a1d7db80-1dfb-11e4-aedf-250bc8c9958e\/","title":{"rendered":"Palau group donates to public library"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Oreor Club of Saipan handed over a check worth $250 Thursday afternoon to the Joeten-Kiyu Public Library. <\/p>\n<p>Present during the presentation of the check was Joeten-Kiyu director Kevin Lathan and his staff, together with the Palauan organization\u2019s president, Johnviany Tutiy, and vice president Eisio Blesoch. <\/p>\n<p>Lathan thanked the Oreor Club of Saipan\u2019s gesture by awarding a certificate of appreciation to Tutiy. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey deserve it because every year they have always been generous,\u201d said Lathan, \u201cWe really appreciate what they do and support the library.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The president of the club in turn thanked Joeten-Kiyu for the plaque.<\/p>\n<p>The library will add the donation to their acquisition of textbooks and other related library materials as needed by the children and the community.<\/p>\n<p>The group also assured Joeten-Kiyu of its continuous assistance to the institution to fulfill one of its goals\u2014to help children and students understand that reading books is essential to learning. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is for the library to buy books and use it for whatever the kids want to read in the library,\u201d said Blesoch <\/p>\n<p>The organization plans to increase its donation next year if economic conditions improve. Last year the group also donated $250 to the public library.<\/p>\n<p>Oreor Club of Saipan derived its name from the ancient name of Koror, the capital city of Palau.
