Department of Public Safety is set to put in place an incentive program in an effort to boost morale at the law enforcement agency.<\/p>\n
In the DPS\u2019 December newsletter, DPS commissioner Santiago Tudela said his agency would soon be implementing an incentive program, namely Employee of the Quarter, as well as other programs that would reward and recognize personnel striving for excellence in performance.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe will also be looking at other rewards programs in an effort to boost employee morale,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Tudela said he will also be reactivating the DPS\u2019 promotional board, \u201cwhich will be responsible for reviewing personnel records fairly,\u201d to ensure fairness within the department.<\/p>\n
\u201cI will be implementing the point system where education, experience, and work performance are taken in consideration in the promotion review process,\u201d he said. \u201cI will also be meeting on a regular basis with mid-level management and high ranking officers to ensure that communication between supervisors and front line personnel are effective.\u201d<\/p>\n
Tudela also touched on weeding out corruption within the department.<\/p>\n
\u201cCorruption activities at the department have been reported in the media,\u201d he said. \u201cHowever, I think the department has been unfairly criticized just because of the wrong doings of one or two personnel out of over 300.<\/p>\n
\u201cI will be working with the Attorney\u2019s General Office, the FBI, and the Office of the Public Auditor to ensure that anti-corruption training is provided to our personnel. I will also ensure that supervisors are held accountable for their subordinates\u2019 wrongdoings if they are found to have the knowledge or suspicion of the activities and did not do anything to address it.\u201d<\/p>\n
Other goals mentioned by Tudela include the reopening of the DPS auto section that would handle vehicle repair and maintenance, as well as filling vacancies within the department as well as pay increases for promoted officers.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
