Sylvan Rangamar.<\/p>\n<p>Rangamar explained that the program is the reason why no fatal accidents were reported, serving many during the weekends of the recent holiday season and providing transportation home.<\/p>\n<p>The program, which began on Nov. 26, ended on Sunday night.<\/p>\n<p>Individuals are urged to refrain engaging in impaired driving or to designate a sober driver.<\/p>\n<p>Instead of driving home while intoxicated, individuals would call the Department of Public Safety and request a designated driver.<\/p>\n<p>A police officer would be dispatched to the location of the caller to determine whether it would be safe for the designated driver to transport the caller.<\/p>\n<p>The caller would sign a waiver and would be taken home, free of charge.<\/p>\n<p>The program was created to save lives, not only of motorists who would normally drive while intoxicated, but also innocent motorists who abide by the law.<\/p>\n<p> \u201cThe holiday season is a time to have fun and be happy, not to mourn over a lost loved one,\u201d said 3D vice chair Rose T. Ada-Hocog during an earlier interview.
