{"id":87110,"date":"2005-01-11T05:46:00","date_gmt":"2005-01-11T05:46:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/a204e44f-1dfb-11e4-aedf-250bc8c9958e"},"modified":"2005-01-11T05:46:00","modified_gmt":"2005-01-11T05:46:00","slug":"a204e460-1dfb-11e4-aedf-250bc8c9958e","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/a204e460-1dfb-11e4-aedf-250bc8c9958e\/","title":{"rendered":"Continental to purchase 10 Boeing 7E7 jets"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Continental Airlines has reached an agreement with Boeing to become the first major U.S. airline to order the Boeing 7E7 aircraft, Continental announced in a news release.<\/p>\n<p>The Houston-based airline\u2019s first order is for 10 aircraft, with the first 7E7 to be delivered in 2009. The Boeing 7E7 is a high technology jet to be built of mostly composite materials instead of aluminum.<\/p>\n<p>In addition, Continental said it will be leasing eight 757-300 aircraft from Boeing. The 757-300 aircraft will be delivered to Continental beginning July this year.<\/p>\n<p>Further, Continental has agreed to accelerate into 2006 the delivery of six Boeing 737-800 aircraft that were previously scheduled to be delivered in 2008.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe 7E7 will be an important part of our international growth strategy. With it, we can continue to differentiate our award winning service and consistently growing international network,\u201d said Gordon Bethune, Continental\u2019s chairman and chief executive officer.<\/p>\n<p>The 7E7 is the widebody of the future for Continental and will provide the platform for our long-term international growth. Leasing these additional 757 and 737 aircraft will be another step in outdistancing our competitors in this rapidly changing environment,\u201d said Larry Kellner, Continental\u2019s president and chief operations officer.
