Babauta will fly to Dallas, Texas on Jan. 19 in line with the preliminary activities that will honTeacher of the Year awardees from 50 states and five territories<\/p>\n<p>The weeklong conference will give the teachers a chance to know one another, and meet the four finalists for the national Teacher of the Year award.<\/p>\n<p>In April 2005, one will be selected and honored as national Teacher of the Year. Out of the 55 teacher awardees, the committee will narrow it down to four finalists and these four will be officially announced during the conference. Awarding of the national Teacher of the Year will be held in Washington, DC.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cQuite a learning experience for myself,\u201d said Babauta about her trip next week.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat I hope to get from there is what I can do as a teacher professionally and just come back and work with colleagues,\u201d she added confirming her plans of transferring the experience to her co-teachers.<\/p>\n<p>Babauta has been a teacher for 14 years already.<\/p>\n<p>She shares her TOY award this year with her husband and two kids.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI guess for professional enhancement for myself and personal, it\u2019s an honor representing the CNMI,\u201d was all she could say about her being chosen as the NMI\u2019s representative to the conference. \u201cIt\u2019s an honor for me.
