{"id":87210,"date":"2005-01-15T01:46:00","date_gmt":"2005-01-15T01:46:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/a2066c80-1dfb-11e4-aedf-250bc8c9958e"},"modified":"2005-01-15T01:46:00","modified_gmt":"2005-01-15T01:46:00","slug":"a2066c91-1dfb-11e4-aedf-250bc8c9958e","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/a2066c91-1dfb-11e4-aedf-250bc8c9958e\/","title":{"rendered":"Factories donate to tsunami relief victims"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Saipan Garment Manufacturers Association delivered its first shipment of clothing to be converted to cash for the victims of the recent tsunami disaster throughout many Asian countries.<\/p>\n<p>SGMA contacted Ruth Coleman, the deputy director of the Veteran\u2019s Affairs Office, to expedite delivery of cases of men\u2019s, ladies\u2019 and children\u2019s clothing to the Veteran of Foreign Wars Office for rummage sales to convert hard goods into cash for transfer to disaster care groups associated with the delivery of relief support to the victims.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe heard of the VFW\u2019s Saturday rummage sales to gather contributions, and we knew it would be expensive to send clothing to the victims themselves, so we got together with Ruth Coleman to utilize the work already ongoing by those two honorable groups,\u201d said SGMA\u2019s Chairman James C. Lin.<\/p>\n<p>Lin gave credit to Kidong Choi of RIFU Corp., and H.K. Min of Sako Corp. for the original initiative, and also thanked the factories that have begun to contribute what can be converted into thousands of dollars for those in need in the ravaged Asian areas hit by the devastating waves of the tsunami.<\/p>\n<p>So far contributing are RIFU Apparel, Marianas Fashion, Inc., Winners I, Winners II, Joo Ang Apparel and United International Corp.
