It was well-written and formally set the stage for the “hard questions” that need to be asked, as well as the “hard answers” that need to be given, by the State Board of Regents, Drs. Johnny Y. and Grace Lim Fong, Gerardo Borremeo, and Julia Heidemann, relative to establishing an institution of higher education in the CNMI that will grant the degree of Doctor of Medicine (M.D.).

I would also like to say thank you to Lyna Vizconde for her nice comments regarding my recent article, as well as previously written articles, where, as she described me to be, an “Angel of Doom.” I appreciate the compliment and making it known publicly.

As far as making a contribution to the island community is concerned, I made an attempt to come back and do something positive for NMC, as well as the entire island community, during 2004 with an application for the presidency of NMC. The State Board of Regents apparently did not think I was qualified enough with two advanced degrees in administration, i.e., Master of Public Administration (MPA) and Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) in higher education administration, and they did not select me as one of the prospective candidates to provide the leadership for the college. Consequently, I was never extended an offer to be interviewed for the position.

There are always two sides to an issue. If only one side is presented in the CNMI, then it will not do justice to those residents of the island community (whether on or off island) who deserve to know and understand “all” the relevant facts surrounding the issue. Moreover, presenting just “one side” will often times leave out the essence, as well as the “truth,” which I consider to be extremely important aspects of any issue.

Dr. Jesus D.
