As the excitement has been building for the coming 10th Annual Tournament of Champions, so too has the level of participation by the international field of competitors as all of the available slots open to the public have been filled.<\/p>\n
According to TOC chairman Rodney Klinge, the Organizing Committee of the 2005 Tournament of Champions regrets to inform everyone that registration is now closed to \u201cpaid\u201d players, but some lucky duffers will have the opportunity to hit the links in what many consider to be the region\u2019s premiere event.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe committee is holding open \u201csponsor slots\u201d for those sponsors who have free exempt slots given to them in association with their sponsor package. If a player would like to \u201cpay\u201d they will be put on a wait list, First Come First Served,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Klinge added that the committee will notify players on the wait list if and when a slot becomes available, and has already begun to contact tournament sponsors with unfilled slots in an effort to have them either fill the vacant slots or release them back to the tournament committee.<\/p>\n
\u201cAny slots returned to the tournament committee will become available to the wait list,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
The clock is ticking, as all registration, paid or sponsor exempt, will be closed by the close of business this Wednesday, Aug. 3, and the organizers will be unable to allow any walk-on registrations at the courses during the golfing spectacular under any circumstances.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
