{"id":93588,"date":"2005-09-08T05:02:00","date_gmt":"2005-09-08T05:02:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/a4976dd4-1dfb-11e4-aedf-250bc8c9958e"},"modified":"2005-09-08T05:02:00","modified_gmt":"2005-09-08T05:02:00","slug":"a4976de5-1dfb-11e4-aedf-250bc8c9958e","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/a4976de5-1dfb-11e4-aedf-250bc8c9958e\/","title":{"rendered":"Man jailed, fined for disturbing wife\u2019s sleep"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Disturbing one\u2019s wife while she\u2019s asleep proved expensive for one man, who is now being made to pay a $200 fine and render free community service besides serving jail time, after the Superior Court convicted him of disturbing the peace.<\/p>\n<p>Associate Judge Kenneth Govendo sentenced Edward (the complete name is being withheld) to six months imprisonment after the defendant pleaded \u201cno contest\u201d to the disturbing the peace charge. The judge, however, suspended the prison term, except for the two days that Edward has already served in jail.<\/p>\n<p>The judge also ordered that Edward be placed on six months probation. He tasked the defendant to perform 30 hours of community service at the rate of five hours per month.<\/p>\n<p>Govendo also ordered Edward to submit to the Community Guidance Center for counseling.<\/p>\n<p>The judge dismissed the charge of assault pursuant to a plea agreement between Edward and government prosecutors.<\/p>\n<p>Court records showed that Edward argued with his wife on Sept. 7, 2004, inside the couple\u2019s Saipan home. The woman was sleeping on a futon when Edward passed by and woke her up. Later, Edward slammed the door, further disturbing his wife.<\/p>\n<p>The woman asked Edward why he was disturbing her sleep, to which he responded by throwing down a shoe rack.
