{"id":94687,"date":"2005-10-18T05:30:00","date_gmt":"2005-10-18T05:30:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/a4e2f350-1dfb-11e4-aedf-250bc8c9958e"},"modified":"2005-10-18T05:30:00","modified_gmt":"2005-10-18T05:30:00","slug":"a4e2f361-1dfb-11e4-aedf-250bc8c9958e","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/a4e2f361-1dfb-11e4-aedf-250bc8c9958e\/","title":{"rendered":"23 Chinese couples tie knot in group wedding"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Dressed in white, 23 young brides accompanied by their black-suited grooms walked cheerfully to the garden beachside of Hotel Nikko Saipan for their much-awaited group wedding celebration on Saipan yesterday.<\/p>\n<p>As they went about with the ceremonial activities, the sound system played the Pocahontas theme song, \u201cColor of the Wind.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re very happy,\u201d said a beaming Zhun Tao while standing beside his stunning wife, Zhou Wei Wei.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is a beautiful place. I\u2019m excited to come here,\u201d said Wei Wei.<\/p>\n<p>The Zhous are just among the young couples who traveled to Saipan this year for a grand group wedding celebration.<\/p>\n<p>The couples, who were in their mid-20s to early 30s, have already been officially married in China. Yesterday\u2019s event was a part of the wedding celebrations.<\/p>\n<p>According to Wu He Sheng, Shanghai Luwan District Tourism Administration Bureau director, the newlyweds, who all come from Shanghai \u201care highly educated\u201d and \u201chighly salaried.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSince eight years ago, we\u2019re coordinating with concerned groups to give opportunity to couples who want to go to beautiful places for their wedding,\u201d said Wu, as interpreted by Kevin Xu.<\/p>\n<p>Xu is the Marianas Visitors Authority\u2019s representative in China.<\/p>\n<p>When asked, Wu said that each couple spent some 10,000 RMB for the entire group wedding package.<\/p>\n<p>The participants, who arrived Monday night, will be in the CNMI for six days.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey have tour packages,\u201d said Xu.<\/p>\n<p>He said that in previous years, the Rose Garden Wedding organizers had chosen Hong Kong, Singapore, and Malaysia, among others, as destinations.<\/p>\n<p>This year, the Shanghai Tourism Administration and the Marianas Visitors Authority agreed to bring it to Saipan.<\/p>\n<p>The event was sponsored by the Tinian Dynasty Hotel and Casino, Nikko Hotel Saipan, and Bank of Shanghai, among others.<\/p>\n<p>Aside from the 23 couples, 80 more couples also traveled with them to Saipan for their honeymoon.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019ve got 80 honeymooners here as well,\u201d said Xu.<\/p>\n<p>The Rose Garden Wedding was held yesterday at 2pm at the beachside of Nikko Hotel Saipan.<\/p>\n<p>Gov. Juan N. Babauta and MVA managing director Vicky I. Benavente graced the occasion.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re grateful that you have chosen Saipan.
