They led 10-7 in the second set when time expired Monday.

Yesterday was a different story, though, as B-n-S came storming back. The two teams were neck and neck until the Lagooners’ Gary Phillip connected on an ace to give his team an 18-16 win and a 34-21 lead in the overall tally.

B-n-S, however, got into a rhythm in the third set and crept closer with an 18-10 win.

Heading into the final set of regulation, B-n-S was trailing 39-44, and needed to win the fourth set to keep their hopes alive.

With their backs against the wall, B-n-S came through in the clutch and dominated the fourth set behind their hustle and hard hits. A goal by Kaleo Olaitiman ignited a strong charge as it was followed by consecutive kees by Charles Mesik, and by the time B-n-S was done, they had forced o-kon with 16-13 win.

The Lagooners still led after regulation, which meant they needed to win just one set to claim victory, while B-n-S had to win twice.

The Lagooners seemed well on their way to victory after an ace by Graceful Fiden gave the team a 4-0 lead in the first set of overtime.

The team, however, went ice cold from there as B-n-S recovered and responded with a fury. Jennifer Somol proved to be dangerous from the service area, serving up five straight points, four of them coming on consecutive aces to give her team a 10-4 lead. B-n-S was able to hold on and force a do-or-die second set with an 11-4 win.

Action continues today with the two teams playing their final set of o-kon. The winner improves to 2-0, while the loser drops to 1-1.

For more information about high school Rocball, contact the sport’s creator James Feger at 664-3810.

B-n-S and the Lagooners are currently locked in a tight battle in the ongoing 2005 World Organized Rocball High School League.

[4

post-94883","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-local-news
["GET
