{"id":95840,"date":"2005-11-29T04:02:00","date_gmt":"2005-11-29T04:02:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/a5a35607-1dfb-11e4-aedf-250bc8c9958e"},"modified":"2005-11-29T04:02:00","modified_gmt":"2005-11-29T04:02:00","slug":"a5a3561b-1dfb-11e4-aedf-250bc8c9958e","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/a5a3561b-1dfb-11e4-aedf-250bc8c9958e\/","title":{"rendered":"Father, son injured as car struck their bicycle"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A man and his four-year-old son were injured when a bicycle they were riding on was struck by a car driven by an intoxicated man in San Antonio, police said yesterday.<\/p>\n<p>Theofin Secharraimul, 44, of Koblerville, received scrape marks on his left knee, left hand and right shoulder. He complained of pain on the left wrist.<\/p>\n<p>Secharraimul\u2019s son suffered a swollen forehead and laceration to the back of the head, police said.<\/p>\n<p>The driver of a car identified as Victor Padilla Mallari, 25, of Chalan Kanoa, was arrested for driving while under the influence of alcohol, reckless driving, speeding, and failure to yield to incoming vehicle.<\/p>\n<p>Secharraimul told police that on Nov. 24 at 5:09pm he was riding his bicycle with his son as his passenger at the intersection of Beach Road and Batto PI Street.<\/p>\n<p>Secharraimul said he did not see any vehicle so he drove to the highway, but he got struck by a car. His son was thrown to the ground.<\/p>\n<p>The driver of the car did not stop.<\/p>\n<p>A witness said he shouted at the driver who refused to stop then threw a lime at the vehicle.<\/p>\n<p>Some men who were in the area threw rocks at the car, the witness said.<\/p>\n<p>The driver stopped later in the area. Police responded and conducted their investigation.<\/p>\n<p>Mallari told police that he saw the bicycle coming from the secondary road so he slowed down. He said the bicycle suddenly entered the highway so he applied the brakes.<\/p>\n<p>The car slid and struck the bicycle.
