(Japan) chairman Jun Mokudai will grace the Marianas Visitors Authority\u2019s bi-annual membership meeting that will gather business leaders, including tourism industry players, at the Saipan World Resort tomorrow.<\/p>\n<p>MVA managing director Vicky Benavente announced in a media statement that Mokudai would be the MVA\u2019s guest speaker at the meeting, which has been scheduled to begin at 11:30am tomorrow.<\/p>\n<p>The CNMI government has maintained close partnership with Northwest, especially after the pullout of Japan Airlines\u2019 services to Saipan last October.<\/p>\n<p>Besides flying daily to Saipan from Tokyo and Nagoya, Northwest also began nonstop daily flights between Osaka and Saipan on Oct. 1, filling the gap left by JAL, which stopped regularly scheduled flights to Saipan on Oct. 4.<\/p>\n<p>The CNMI government continues to woo Northwest to expand its services to Saipan, whose premier industry, tourism, relies heavily on Japanese tourists.<\/p>\n<p>Northwest, the fourth largest airline in the world, has filed a Chapter 11 bankruptcy petition before the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of New York to allow the company to restructure its debts so that it could continue to operate.<\/p>\n<p>The company had assured, though, that the petition\u2019s filing would have little impact on its global operations. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Northwest Airlines, Inc.
