{"id":95929,"date":"2005-12-01T06:52:00","date_gmt":"2005-12-01T06:52:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/a5a3c392-1dfb-11e4-aedf-250bc8c9958e"},"modified":"2005-12-01T06:52:00","modified_gmt":"2005-12-01T06:52:00","slug":"a5a3c3a3-1dfb-11e4-aedf-250bc8c9958e","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/a5a3c3a3-1dfb-11e4-aedf-250bc8c9958e\/","title":{"rendered":"Community Briefs"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Live WWII ordnance to be set off in Marpi tomorrow<\/p>\n<p>The Department of Public Safety with the coordination of Emergency Management Office, Office of the Governor and in conjunction with COMNAVMAR Guam, would like to inform the general public that the U.S. Navy Explosive Ordnance Disposal Detachment Team from Guam will detonate World War II Live Ordnance on Laderan Laggun on Saipan this Saturday, Dec. 3, from 1pm to 2pm.<\/p>\n<p>The general location of this activity would be a mile north of Marpi Landfill. The grid coordinates is 15 degrees 16.11 minutes 0.0865 seconds North and 145 degrees 49 minutes 0.3313 seconds East and 5,000 feet above sea level (ASL).<\/p>\n<p>Due to the danger imposed by this activity, Gov. Juan N. Babauta is advising the general public, especially commercial pilots, tour operators, residents, farmers, tourists, bikers, joggers, and fishermen to stay at least a mile away from this area during the time and date indicated.<\/p>\n<p>The cooperation and understanding of the general public is greatly appreciated.<br \/>\nShould you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact the Department of Public Safety at 664-9000\/9001 or the Emergency Management Office at 322-9529\/9572 ext. 23\/24\/31 or VHF MARINE CHNL 16.<\/p>\n<p>DEQ cleanup brigade targets Makaka Beach<\/p>\n<p>The Division of Environmental Quality cleanup brigade will be at it again, picking up trash at Samoan Housing Beach\/ \u201cMakaka Beach\u201d (south of Dai-Ichi Hotel Saipan Brach), if you would like to volunteer your time to cleanup and beautify our island, please meet the DEQ representative in the bright green T-shirt tomorrow, Dec. 3, 2005 at 8am. Come join us and \u201cPick it Up!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The brigade cleans until 10am and breaks for drinks and then if continues, if needed. For more details, call 234-5050 during office hours and look for the GIG manager Fred Santos or 234-3131 at night and ask for Emy Romero.<\/p>\n<p>Inautas looking for musicians\/singers<\/p>\n<p>Inautas Cultural Dancers, Inc. is looking for musicians to compose a live ensemble to accompany its groups\u2019 shows.<\/p>\n<p>If you play any instruments (particularly strings or percussion) or sing and have a passion of learning different cultures, you are more than welcome to audition to be included in the Inautas Cultural Dancers lineup as a back-up musician or vocalists.
