{"id":96623,"date":"2005-12-26T03:37:00","date_gmt":"2005-12-26T03:37:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/a5be0de4-1dfb-11e4-aedf-250bc8c9958e"},"modified":"2005-12-26T03:37:00","modified_gmt":"2005-12-26T03:37:00","slug":"a5be0df8-1dfb-11e4-aedf-250bc8c9958e","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/a5be0df8-1dfb-11e4-aedf-250bc8c9958e\/","title":{"rendered":"A year of forging partnerships"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Northern Marianas College has fostered partnerships with various institutions in fiscal year 2005, NMC president Antonio Deleon Guerrero has reported.<\/p>\n<p>In May 2005, Deleon Guerrero and Dean Vance Riley from the College of Business Administration at the University of Hawaii-Manoa signed an agreement allowing UH-Manoa to provide business courses through the local college.<\/p>\n<p>According to Deleon Guerrero, the inter-institutional agreement was made possible with the assistance of UH-Manoa\u2019s Pacific Business Center Program.<\/p>\n<p>\u00c5gThis cooperative agreement will expand opportunities for CNMI residents and NMC graduates to advance their studies for business leadership beyond the associate degree level,\u00c5h the college president said.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier this month, NMC also signed an agreement with another Hawaii-based institution, Argosy University.<\/p>\n<p>The partnership will allow local teachers, principals, and other professionals to obtain a doctor\u2019s degree in education and bachelor\u2019s degree in business administration from Argosy University by attending classes at NMC.<\/p>\n<p>Furthermore, through a partnership between the NMC Social Sciences and Fine Arts Department and the CNMI Department of Corrections, 26 graduates received certificates in criminal justice on Nov. 30, 2005.<\/p>\n<p>The cadets spent 10 weeks learning about defensive tactics, being a first responder, report writing, firearms, the law, and the corrections profession in addition to further on the job training.<\/p>\n<p>The students received 17 college credits for their efforts, which according to Deleon Guerrero was \u00c5ga major accomplishment for the time available.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Northern Marianas College has fostered partnerships with various institutions in fiscal year 2005, NMC president Antonio Deleon Guerrero has reported.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[4],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-96623","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-local-news"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/96623","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/1"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=96623"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/96623\/revisions"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=96623"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=96623"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=96623"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
