The Attorney General\u2019s Office yesterday filed charges against a man for kidnapping and beating a woman.<\/p>\n
Miller Paulino John, 31, was charged with kidnapping and two counts of assault and battery.<\/p>\n
Chief Prosecutor Jeffrey Moots stated in the information that on Oct. 29, 2005, John \u201cremoved [the victim] a substantial distance from the vicinity where the defendant found [her].\u201d<\/p>\n
Moots said John struck the victim in the face by slapping her in Central Garapan.<\/p>\n
Moots said the defendant also punched the victim in the face along Middle Road across Down Town Market.<\/p>\n
No other details were given.<\/p>\n
In other court news, a 39-year-old man was arrested for allegedly grabbing and pushing his wife in front of their two children at their apartment on Capital Hill Monday morning.<\/p>\n
Frederick SK. Santos was detained for assault and battery. A $1,000 cash bail was imposed for his temporary liberty.<\/p>\n
The victim told police that, while she was watching their two children playing in the living room and kitchen area around 5am, Santos arrived.<\/p>\n
The victim told Santos to watch the children because she needed to do some errands. While she was brushing her teeth in the company of their two-year-old son, the defendant allegedly grabbed her left wrist and pulled her out of the bathroom.<\/p>\n
The woman stumbled over some toys. Santos then again grabbed her other wrist and pushed her toward the bedroom.<\/p>\n
The victim tried to resist, but Santos allegedly told her she was not strong. She ran outside and dialed the police emergency hotline.<\/p>\n
She told police that John has been subjecting her to verbal, emotional, and physical abuse since they arrived on Saipan five months ago.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
