The shroud of mystery has finally been lifted as Kensuke Kimura\u2019s fish-like performance in the 400m Freestyle at the Guam International Meet on Tuesday eclipsed Rezne Wong\u2019s three-and-a-half-year-old Saipan Swim Club record by nearly four seconds.<\/p>\n
According to SSC head coach Michael Stewart, Kimura blew away the international field of swimmers in the 9-10 year-old division with a time of 5:40:83 in the 400m Freestyle in the Hagatna Pool in Guam.<\/p>\n
Stewart was unable to check his record from Guam following the first day\u2019s events, but he said that Wong\u2019s record was posted on the Wall of Fame at the Kan Pacific Swimming Pool in Marpi.<\/p>\n
Early yesterday morning, the Saipan Tribune made the trip to the northernmost tank in the Marianas and verified that Kimura did indeed break Wong\u2019s 5:44:53 record set on April 26, 2002.<\/p>\n
Upon notification of the feat, Stewart was surprised that Kimura was just three tenths of a second shy of shattering the mark by four seconds even, and could only mutter the word \u201cWow\u201d before being instructed to turn off his cellular phone moments before the Continental flight closed the cabin door.<\/p>\n
The SSC arrived from Guam on the evening flight to Saipan, and neither Wong nor Kimura were available for comment before press time.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
