Gov. Benigno R. Fitial vowed yesterday that he would not neglect Rota in his efforts to revive the CNMI\u2019s economy.<\/p>\n
Fitial, who flew to Rota for the inauguration of Mayor Joseph Inos, thanked Rota voters for supporting his gubernatorial bid in the Nov. 5, 2005 election. As governor, he will do everything to support Rota, he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cAs you know, the financial crisis we face as a Commonwealth is very difficult. We will be seriously challenged over the course of the next four years. But we will do our best to improve our financial condition, not only for Saipan and Tinian, but most especially for the people of Rota, who have been long neglected in terms of economic growth and development,\u201d Fitial said.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt is very important to me that we find suitable investments for the people of Rota investments that complement and preserve Rota\u2019s beautiful natural environment and cultural traditions, and way of life,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n
The administration has a good start, he said, with the Covenant Party ruling not only the Executive Branch but also both legislative houses.<\/p>\n
\u201cI promise you that I will do my best to work with the Legislature, with both the House and the Senate, in seeking ways to improve Rota\u2019s quality of life in the next four years. I will work with Mayor Inos, [Rota] Rep. Crispin Ogo, and the Rota majority in the Senate,\u201d Fitial said.<\/p>\n
Inos, who was sworn into office yesterday, succeeds former Mayor Benjamin Manglona.<\/p>\n
Other dignitaries who attended Inos\u2019 inauguration include Bishop Thomas Camacho, Guam Gov. Felix Camacho, Senate President Joseph Mendiola, Rota Sen. Felix Mendiola, House Speaker Oscar Babauta, and Ogo.<\/p>\n
