Pacific Telecom Inc. will hold a public party later today at the Street Market in Garapan to formally launch its entry into the Commonwealth.<\/p>\n
This comes four months after the company took over the control and operations of Verizon Micronesia.<\/p>\n
PTI spokesperson Carlene R. Tenorio said the event, which begins at 5pm to 9pm, is open to the public.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s PTI\u2019s grand launch party. The whole CNMI community is invited to attend. We\u2019ll be having live entertainment. There\u2019s going to be cultural dance groups and band performances. We\u2019ll have a clown to entertain the kids. We\u2019ll have fireworks and Chinese dragon performers,\u201d said Tenorio in an interview yesterday.<\/p>\n
She said PTI would also give away free items such as hats and T-shirts to the crowd. <\/p>\n
At the same time, Tenorio said that PTI would offer great deals on its products during the event.<\/p>\n
She said customers can sign up for PTI\u2019s new product called the web accelerator, which makes dial-up connections six times faster than normal.<\/p>\n
Further, she said that if people sign for DSL broadband for a year, they will get three months free. Likewise, their service order processing fee of $40 will be waived.<\/p>\n
Long distance call cards will be 15 percent off the regular price.<\/p>\n
During the gathering, prepaid cell phones will be sold at $50 each.<\/p>\n
On Friday at 430pm, PTI will hold a roadside waving in front of its offices in Chalan Laulau.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019ll be giving away hats and bumper stickers,\u201d she said. <\/p>\n
People visiting PTI office will also get to taste mouth-watering cakes.<\/p>\n
Today\u2019s launching will be attended by several guests, including government officials led by Lt. Gov. Tim P. Villagomez, who will be delivering his remarks.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s going to be an exciting event. We encourage everybody to drop by and get free PTI products at the same time,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
PTI finally took over the telecommunications firm on Sept. 21, 2005 after a long legal battle.<\/p>\n
