No Air Saipan chartered flight arrived yesterday as anticipated by the Commonwealth Ports Authority.<\/p>\n
CPA executive director Lee Cabrera said his office would initiate communication with the company on this matter.<\/p>\n
He said there might have been issues that were beyond the company\u2019s control.<\/p>\n
\u201cIn fairness, those are tentative plans they shared with us in mid-January,\u201d said Cabrera yesterday afternoon.<\/p>\n
He said that, based on their discussion with Air Saipan executives last month, it would bring its chartered aircraft to Saipan on Feb. 15.<\/p>\n
Earlier this month, Air Saipan announced the postponement of its scheduled press conference set on Feb. 8. <\/p>\n
Air Saipan vice president for international marketing and corporate development Craig Champion had told the local media that details were still being finalized on the chartered aircraft.<\/p>\n
The company reportedly planned on chartering a Boeing 757 aircraft from U.S.-based Ryan International Airlines.<\/p>\n
Air Saipan aims to provide charter services between Japan and Saipan and later to other markets, including Korea, China, Hong Kong and even Australia. <\/p>\n
