Among the members of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations, the Philippines has taken pride in obtaining the highest quality of nursing education.<\/p>\n
According to the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration publication, the Philippines has the highest quality nursing training with over 190 universities and colleges accredited by the Philippine Commission on Higher Education.<\/p>\n
The publication, distributed at the Philippine Overseas Labor Office in Susupe, said that nursing institutions in the Philippines are at par with their counterparts in Canada, United States, Japan and Australia.<\/p>\n
Philippine nursing schools graduate over 9,000 students every year and 80 percent eventually become full-fledged licensed nurses. \u201cOver 340,000 registered nurses are listed in the roster of the country\u2019s Professional Regulation Commission,\u201d POEA said.<\/p>\n
For the past years, Filipino nurses have become \u201cmuch-sought after\u201d health worker in Asia, the Middle East, Europe, North America and Africa. POEA also said they have become popular figures in major hospitals, nursing homes, and other healthcare institutions in the United Kingdom, USA, Ireland, KSA, UAE, Kuwait, Singapore, Malaysia and others.<\/p>\n
POEA said the demand for healthcare and allied health professionals in the four major continents is attributed to the Philippine education system that is patterned after the U.S. curriculum. <\/p>\n
\u201cClassroom work and laboratory technologies, clinical internship, and community immersion adequately equip the nurse with the technical and clinical expertise required by the job.\u201d<\/p>\n
An extra advantage of the Filipino nurses, according to the publication, is the Filipino nurses\u2019 facility and ability to express themselves in English. POEA said that, with good command of the language they are able to communicate effectively with their employers, colleagues, and their patients.<\/p>\n
