{"id":9828,"date":"2012-04-24T01:55:56","date_gmt":"2012-04-24T01:55:56","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/newspaper.ctsi-logistics.com\/?p=9828"},"modified":"2012-04-24T01:55:56","modified_gmt":"2012-04-24T01:55:56","slug":"tourist-drowns-at-managaha-4-year-old-girl-still-at-icu-after-near-drowning","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/tourist-drowns-at-managaha-4-year-old-girl-still-at-icu-after-near-drowning\/","title":{"rendered":"Tourist drowns at Managaha, 4-year-old girl still at ICU after near drowning"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>By Ferdie de la Torre<br \/>\nReporter<\/div>\n<p>A Chinese female tourist drowned in waters off Managaha Island last week, while a 4-year-old girl nearly drowned at the children&#8217;s pool at the Pacific Islands Club on Saturday.<\/p>\n<p>The Department of Public Safety yesterday identified the drowning victim as 33-year-old Wang Dao.<\/p>\n<p>Police said Dao and her group went to Managaha last Monday, April 16.<\/p>\n<p>Witnesses told police that Dao was seen lying down in the water as the group members were exiting the water to head back to shore.<\/p>\n<p>The witnesses called for help as they applied CPR on the victim. A boat then transported the victim to Smiling Cove Marina. Two life guards administered CPR on the victim on their way to the dock.<\/p>\n<p>The boat arrived at the dock at 2:40pm. Medics brought the victim to the Commonwealth Health Center, where a doctor pronounced her dead at 2:56pm.<\/p>\n<p>DPS forwarded the case to the Office of the Attorney General.<\/p>\n<p>In the PIC incident, DPS said as of yesterday afternoon the girl was still in CHC&#8217;s intensive care unit.<\/p>\n<p>Police said a doctor stated that the girl has been admitted at ICU for further observation and treatment due to presence of fluid in her lungs.<\/p>\n<p>Police said the girl&#8217;s stepfather stated he heard a whistle and ran to a group of people gathering at the pool area.<\/p>\n<p>The stepfather found out that it was his stepdaughter who was being assisted.<\/p>\n<p>At least two persons administered CPR and revived the girl.
