If a sport receives insufficient number of participants, it may be dropped—like sailing and bowling.

“When we get your completed numerical entry forms back, we may have to make other changes if there aren’t enough countries competing in a particular sport,” White said in his email statement. “This is another reason why we need your completed forms back as soon as possible. We will let you know as soon as we can if there are going to be any more changes.”

Countries will indicate how many athletes will compete in each sport, as well as how many officials, coaches, medical staff, and government officials will accompany the delegation.

He added that the preliminary entries are also needed for the committee to get a good idea on how many individuals will participate. Final entries will be required two months before the quadrennial event.

White also requested each country to provide flags as well as copies of the national, state, or territorial anthems.

He also reminded the participants that the per diem charge of $30 per day for each member of a delegation would be charged to the delegation whether or not the team resides in the Olympic Village.

“It covers the cost of preparing and maintaining the sports facilities to be used during the Games; supplying water and other services at sports venues; transportation between the Village, sports venues, and the airport; and other fixed costs,” he said.

White also assured the representatives that the committee will do all it could to make the Games a success.

“The 2006 Micronesian Games Organizing Committee has reorganized itself. We are a group of experienced, dedicated, and motivated people who are committed to staging a memorable 2006 Micronesian Games. We promise to get the job done,” he said.

Competition in the Micro Games will be held from June 23 to July 2.
