Northern Marianas College will have 175 candidates for graduation during the college\u2019s 26th Commencement Exercises this May.<\/p>\n
NMC president Tony V. Deleon Guerrero said a grand total of 175 students from NMC Saipan, Tinian, and Rota petitioned to graduate this year. <\/p>\n
Deleon Guerrero said the figure includes Adult Basic Education\u2019s diploma students, with 18 General Educational Development and 20 from Adult School. <\/p>\n
The 26th Commencement Exercise will take place at the Marianas High School Gymnasium on Saturday, May 20, 4pm. All participants are expected to be at the graduation site by 3pm and no later than 3:30pm, said Deleon Guerrero.<\/p>\n
The college has nominated Hawaii Gov. Linda Lingle as this year\u2019s keynote speaker. Alternate speakers would be Dr. Debra Cabrera, Geri Willis, Dr. Sarah Osborne and Dr. Rita Inos. Graduation practice will be on May 18, 3pm to 5pm at the MHS Gym.<\/p>\n
This year\u2019s graduation theme will be \u201cEducation: Another Step Closer to Tomorrow.\u201d Last year\u2019s theme was \u201cKnowledge is a priceless investment in yourself.\u201d<\/p>\n
Last year NMC awarded approximately 270 degrees, diplomas, and certificates, with five students receiving academic achievement awards.<\/p>\n
Finishing at the top of her class last year was Christina M. Smith, who graduated summa cum laude with a baccalaureate degree in education.<\/p>\n
Among the associate degree recipients last year that took top honors were Tatiana Babauta, Zachary Berger, Oxana G. Banes, and Leslie K. Cabrera.<\/p>\n
In addition, 27 individuals received their master’s degrees last year from two U.S. institutions, with which NMC has articulation agreements to facilitate post-graduate education courses.<\/p>\n
Framingham State College conferred hoods upon 23 recipients of Master of Education degrees, while the San Diego State University honored four recipients of Master of Arts in Education degrees last year.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
