At 6:30pm this Friday, April 14, the Cornerstone Christian Church will be staging \u201cHis Love for Us,\u201d a story of Christ\u2019s death and resurrection.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe joined together to conceptualize and do the script. It\u2019s a first time for us to do this production,\u201d said Dina Cruz, overall production coordinator.<\/p>\n
She said the play is spearheaded by the church\u2019s single professionals\u2019 group called Living Epistles.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s an outreach program. It\u2019s one way of telling the story of Jesus, one way of touching hearts, one way of blessing people,\u201d said Cruz.<\/p>\n
Production director Marie Relorcasa said doing the play was both \u201chard and easy.\u201d<\/p>\n
Easy because the story is already known to many; but hard because biblical accuracy is required throughout the story.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s hard because you have to be concerned about God\u2019s story. If it\u2019s something else, I can have my own version. It\u2019s not about just anything. Here, you have to be careful and be consistent with the Bible,\u201d said Relorcasa. <\/p>\n
Relorcasa, who is in her mid-20s, has been directing productions since college but this is the first time that she is directing a Christian play. <\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s fulfilling,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
She is working closely with May Marinay who is in-charge of costumes. <\/p>\n
The production consists of about 30 cast members, all of them from the church.<\/p>\n
\u201cThey are not real actors but they are most willing to participate in this production,\u201d said Cruz.<\/p>\n
She said \u201cHis Love for Us\u201d portrays \u201cthe undying, infinite love of God\u201d based on Romans 5:8 \u201cBut God commends his love towards us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us\u201d<\/p>\n
Cornerstone Church head pastor Lito Rey said this is the first time that the church is doing a production during Holy Week. In the past years, he said the church would hold family camps during the Easter weekend.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe invite everybody to watch our special presentation this week. Please come and be blessed,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
The production is free to the public.<\/p>\n
