Robert Talavera capped his successful campaign in the Wednesday Night Mixed League by taking home three of six individual awards presented last April 19 at the Saipan Bowling Center.<\/p>\n
The TJ 5 Star mainstay won the high series scratch, high game scratch, and high average awards for the season, which ended last April 5 at the San Jose bowling venue.<\/p>\n
The 36-year-old Minalin, Pampanga in the Philippines native came away with 722 pinfalls to win the high series scratch category. He finished ahead of SBC\/J\u2019s Restaurant teammates Alex Cacdac and Jess Rebusada who bowled 711 and 694, respectively. Ron Cal of Beerframe topped the women\u2019s high series scratch after registering a 644.<\/p>\n
Talavera also lorded it over the high game scratch category after rolling a perfect game last Feb. 15. He was followed by Cacdac and teammate Raul Dumapit, who knocked down identical 278 pinfalls each. Diminutive Katz Pinaroc rolled the highest total among the women with her 195.<\/p>\n
For the season, Talavera normed a whopping 213.52 pinfalls per outing to finish with the prestigious high average award. Rebusada was a far second with his 196.44, while Rita Palacios of Neni\u2019s Team took home the high average award for the ladies with her 172.53 average.<\/p>\n
Talavera thanked his teammates and family for their support, which allowed him to perform at a peak level during the latest Wednesday Night Mixed League. He is also extending his appreciation to Benjamin \u201cKappon\u2019 Sablan, who in 2004 promised to award $5,000 to anyone who bowled a perfect game during an ABC-sanctioned. The Wednesday Night League is sanctioned by the local ABC organization.<\/p>\n
The three categories that Talavera failed to top were won by Jon Eparwa, Simeon Eparwa, and Ray Cruz.<\/p>\n
Jon Eparwa reigned supreme in the high series with handicap category after rolling a 781. He was followed by SBC teammates Simeon Eparwa and Ross Zapanta with their 752 and 734, respectively. Neni\u2019s Cindy Serrano won the women\u2019s high series with handicap after recording a 679.<\/p>\n
The Eparwas exchanged places in the high game with handicap with Simeon this time taking the top spot with his 321 and Jon taking runner-up honors with his 300. Chester Bai of Beerframe was third with his 296, while Cora Muna of Golden Lobster topped the women\u2019s high game with handicap with her 236.<\/p>\n
Ray Cruz of JET Holdings Co. won the most improved average award after adding 20.59 pinfalls per game from his average a season ago. Teammate Jon Villagomez recorded the second-highest improvement at 17.97, while Lydia Villagomez of Kalakas was the women\u2019s most improved bowler after hiking her average by 15.17 pinfalls per outing.<\/p>\n
