Week 2 of Bud Cup, WBL set
Week 2 of the 2006 Budweiser Cup BANMI Men’s Island-wide Basketball League and the 2006 Women’s Basketball League is set as a revised schedule was released earlier this week.
Having the honors of kicking things off this Sunday, April 30, are cagers in the WBL as the Garapan Rollers and the Saipan Southern High School Lady Rays take center stage at 2pm.
It will be the first opportunity for the Lady Rays, who finished as runner-up in the past two MISA High School League seasons, to showcase their skills, while the G-Rollers are looking to bounce back from an opening day loss to the Ol’Aces last Saturday.
The Ol’Aces, meanwhile, will be going for their second win of the season as the team battles Southern at 4pm. Like the Lady Rays, the bout will be the first for Southerners in the WBL.
The men hit the hard court after the women, as the CNMI Nationals and three-time defending champion Ol’Aces square off at 6pm. Both teams dropped their season openers last Saturday, with the Nationals falling to Samahang Ilokano at Pangasinense and the Ol’Aces faltering to No Zone.
Making their debuts in the second men’s game are Microl and the Cyclones, who will tip off at 8pm.
Action resumes next Sunday with the G-Rollers facing Southern at 2pm and the Ol’Aces testing the Lady Rays at 4pm in the WBL.
The men return with SIP looking for its second win as the team faces the Cyclones at 6pm, while Microl will see action against No Zone at 8pm.
