In the Marianas Visitors Authority’s efforts to promote the Marianas—Saipan, Tinian and Rota—as a family-oriented destination for the summer holiday season, the “Happy Children in Paradise” campaign has just wrapped up and was a huge success.

This year was the 7th year of the “Happy Children in Paradise” campaign, which commenced on July 1 and ended Sept. 30, 2006.

During the three-month campaign period, every child under 11 years of age received a collectable Saipan-da item.

Upon check-in at participating hotels, each child was handed a “Happy Children in Paradise” coupon that they used in exchange for the limited Saipan-da backpack. The Saipan-da backpack coupon was redeemed at the Saipan-da corner at the DFS Galleria.

This year’s participants were the Japan Saipan Travel Association (JSTA), DFS Galleria Saipan, Saipan World Resort, Tinian Dynasty Hotel & Casino, Mariana Resort & Spa, Hotel Nikko Saipan, Hyatt Regency Hotel, Fiesta Resort & Spa, Rota Resort & Country Club, Hafadai Beach Hotel, The Rota Hotel, Aqua Resort Club, Coconut Village, Coral Ocean Point, Saipan Grand Hotel, Pacific Islands Club, Plumeria Resort Hotel, Saipan Ocean View, Holiday Inn Hotel, Century Hotel, Gold Beach Hotel, Aquarius Beach Tower, and Riviera Resort Hotel.

There were a total of 12,873 Saipan-da backpacks given to children visiting Saipan during the summer months.

“This continues to be a great summer campaign for the CNMI,” said MVA managing director Perry Tenorio. “It’s great to see all the smiles on the kids faces as they carry their backpacks around on our islands while they are here. We want to continue to promote ourselves as a family destination and look forward to future campaigns that are targeted directly at the family market.” [B][I](PR)
