After waiting on the sidelines for the past week while their counterparts rocked the sand courts, the Blue Division returns to the San Antonio sand tonight to resume the 8th Annual Miller Lite Coed Four-Person Volleyball League at the Pacific Islands Club.

Both divisions have a ton of competition at the top as well as a pair of undefeated teams hanging on to their positions of powers. The top Blue Division teams have been in charge all season as Scott Eck’s Kraken and Taula Peter’s Dingleberries have continued to show their skills on the sand through five games.

The Dingleberries have done so from the first place spot by allowing the least amount of points against with their opponents totaling 47 scores all season for an average of just over three points per set.

Peter’s crew dropped only one set this season as has Eck’s squad, but the Kraken crew gave up 71 tallies this far and holds the second spot in the rankings.

Both teams look to extend their winning streaks to six games tonight when Kraken challenges Grace Christian Academy (2-3) at 7:30pm and the Dingleberries face Luther’s Ride (4-1) an hour later at 8:30pm.

If Kraken and the Dingleberries can stave off their opponents tonight they will set the stage for the highlight of the season when the teams take the sand together on Thursday night at 7:30pm.

Luther Taylor and his team have a lock on the playoffs as the third seed, but Somethin’ Fishy, Dolphins-Just Wanna Have Fun, and the GCA Eagles are tied at 2-3. Noke Rogopes and Somethin’ Fishy have the inside track at the fourth and final spot in the playoffs because they have won six sets while the students from Marianas High School have taken five.

With only three wins to their credit, GCA needs to rack up some victories in a hurry if they want to play past this week, but they will face stiff competition tonight. Somethin’ Fishy looks to even its record at 3-3 against the winless Kawawang Dolphins (0-5) tonight at 5:30pm while Dolphins-Just Wanna Have Fun plays the equally winless Afternoon Delight (0-5) at 6:30pm.
