The Make-A-Wish Foundation will be conducting a Wish Granting Training Seminar on Saipan next week, Dec. 11, 2006, at 6pm at the Hyatt Regency Saipan. The seminar is expected to last about three hours.

The Make-A-Wish Foundation grants the wishes of children with a life-threatening medical condition to enrich the human experience with hope, strength and joy. Children who qualify for the program must be between the ages of 2 and 18 years old. The local chapter has granted 145 Wishes in the last 20 years and serves the islands of Guam, Rota, Tinian and Saipan. Make-A-Wish is a non-profit corporation that relies solely on the generosity of the community to fund the granting of wishes. It is guided by a volunteer board of directors and has a staff of two.

An integral part of the mission of the foundation is to ensure that all wishes granted meet the standards set by the national organization. This is accomplished through the training of volunteers that will participate in the wish granting process.

Wish Granting 101 will discuss the beginnings of the Make-A-Wish Foundation, its objectives and mission the qualifying criteria, the steps to granting the wish and the necessary forms required for each wish.

Interested individuals who would like to participate or become a volunteer for the Make-A-Wish Foundation in Saipan should call board members Vicky Benavente at 234-1234 or Kathryn Barry at 682-2872, or email the foundation at mawfguam@ite.net no later than Friday, Dec. 8, 2006 by close of business day.
