MVA hosts JMTC bi-annual conference

The Marianas Visitors Authority hosted the bi-annual meeting of the Japan Marianas Tourism Club on Nov. 30, 2006, at the Fiesta Resort & Spa Saipan.
There were 11 JMTC members who participated in this year’s meeting. The participants consisted of executives from Kinki Nippon Tourist Co. Ltd., Nippon Travel Agency Co. Ltd, R & C Tours Co. Ltd., Pacific Micronesia Tours Inc., HIS Co. Ltd., Hankyu Express International Co. Ltd, Northwest Airlines and Continental Airlines.
The Hotel Association of the Northern Mariana Islands provided an update of its members’ hotel and destination improvements. HANMI chairwoman Lynn Knight proclaimed 2007 as the “Year of the Spa” as most of the hotels have recently renovated and will expand spa services within their facilities. MVA updated the members on the current flight situation from Osaka and other airports in Japan. They also discussed the possible charter flights by Japan Airlines from Osaka in March 2007.
During the meeting, the JMTC members provided an update on current sales situations and sales projections and suggestions on promotional marketing programs including package tours and group sales.
JMTC was formed in 1998. Members meet with MVA twice a year to discuss issues and concerns of the destination. [I][B](PR)[/B][/I]
