Daniel suffered its first loss of the season after being outplayed by Jeremiah, 89-81, Thursday night in the resumption of the 2nd CIM-FCC Inter-Color Basketball League-Genesis Cup at the CIM-FCC Basketball Court in Gualo Rai.

Jeremiah went to work early and established its control leading 26-19 after the first quarter as long and lanky roadrunner Rowell Aranda fired 11 points.

The advantage ballooned to nine points, 43-34, at the end of the first half despite the best efforts of Daniel guards Dennis Vinas and Elmer Esdrelon, as four different Jeremiah players scored at least four points apiece.

Aranda went back to his swashbuckling ways in the third, igniting for another eight points.

This time, however, Daniel had an ace of its own as Gyles Ruluked got off six points as Daniel got close, 59-52, heading into the fourth and final quarter.

The seven-point deficit, however, proved to be the winning margin for Jeremiah, as Aranda teamed up with John Lim and Errol Peredo to seal the deal and send Daniel to its first loss in four games in the ongoing cagefest.

Aranda pled all scorers with 26 points, while Lim and Kevin Cequena added 20 and 15 points, respectively.

Esdrelon was the highpoint man for Daniel with 19, while Ruluked wound up with 18 in the loss.

In the second game, bull-strong forward Amor Casabuena and young Turk Bill Babauta combined for 37 points to lead Hosea to an 88-79 victory over Isaiah.

Melvin Capalda led the non-winners with 24 points, while Manolo Manalo added 17.

The 2nd CIM-FCC Inter-Color Basketball League-Genesis Cup resumes Monday with Gideon taking on Nehemiah in the first game, while Elijah faces Samuel in the second game.
