Pangelinan fantastic at Cowtown
Aaron Pangelinan was the best of the best when the Marianas Racing Association returned to the Cowtown Raceway Park last weekend as he out-rode the competition in Marpi.
Pangelinan added 47 points and a first place finish to his season long tally atop his two-wheeled machine as he outlasted Chris Alepuyo (42 points), but Franklin Santos could have been more of a threat had he been ready to go on time.
After not gaining any points in the first heat, Santos cranked out a first place finish in the second ahead of second place Pangelinan and third place Alepuyo in the Novice 80-85cc Class, but his daily total wasn’t enough to place higher than third.
The expert riders thrilled the spectators as well with strong runs from Shane Alvarez and Manny “Da Man” Flores. Each rider took the checkered flag once during the day but Alvarez took first place because he grabbed the flag in the second heat.
There were nine riders in the Fast and Furious division and Dave Celis was the best among the Experts while Glenn Pangelinan and Ellery Cruz finished in second and third, respectively.
There was little doubt who ruled the roost among the novices as Frank Quitugua won both heats and bagged 50 points ahead of D.J. “500 Laps” Camacho (44 pts.) and Meagan Cruz (40 pts.).
Danny Worswick (34 pts.), Joshua Camacho (33pts.), and Jack Dela Cruz (31 pts.) also went all out for the novice crown but they were unable to crack the Top Three.
Taking top honors is never a problem for Steve Sablan as the veteran twice beat the field to earn 50 points to the year end count ahead of second place finisher Melvin Cepeda (44 pts.) and third place rider Ray “I Do It All” Yumul (40 pts.).
