The Tokyo Broadcasting has been on Saipan filming from Dec. 9 to 13. The filming focused primarily on Japanese visitor’s swimwear trends. They also did some special features showing off tourist sites and Miss Teen, who will provide a welcome message to Japanese viewers in Japan.

TBS is one of the leading TV stations in Japan. Some 2.98 million households have access to TBS throughout Japan. On average 6 percent of their viewers record programming from TBS.

The Marianas Visitors Authority praised Fiesta Resort & Spa and JTB World Vacation for their support of this project. The CNMI will receive about $4.96 million in value for 40 minutes of exposure. The program will air on Jan. 4 and 5 for 20 minutes each.

“Having a film crew here in the Marianas provides a tremendous advantage in promoting the destination,” said MVA managing director Perry Tenorio. “We are very grateful for this opportunity and confident that this will increase awareness of our island in Japan, which remains our No. 1 market.” (PR)
