DUI checkpoints today

The Department of Public Safety’s Traffic Section will be conducting DUI sobriety checkpoints today, Dec. 15, 2006.

The first setup will be on 2W Garapan by Taro Sue. This operation will start at about 7pm and will terminate around 8:15pm.

The second setup will be on Beach Road Chalan Lau Lau by B&R Repair Shop. This operation will begin at about 9:00pm and will end around 10:15pm.

Each checkpoint conducted will last at least 75 minutes (1 hour 15 minutes) at each location. This activity is part of the department’s efforts to deter and detect drunk and drugged driving and ensure that all vehicle occupants are protected.

In addition, traffic officers will be conducting highway criminal interdictions, saturation patrols, aggressive driver interdictions, and laser activities.
