Ol’Aces and Dolphins beat foes
Happy Market/L&Y Corp. Ol’Aces and PTI Dolphins edged out their opponents in the Major division of the Saipan Little League in a couple of continued games last Tuesday at the Gilbert C. Ada Gymnasium.
The games were originally scheduled on Feb. 16 and 23 but Saipan Little League officials stopped the matches due to darkness.
Jared Lizama pitched 2.9 innings in relief to lead the Happy Market and L&Y Corp.- backed Ol’Aces to a 10-8 win over Team McDonald’s.
It was Ol’Aces’ fifth straight win to join the vastly improved Bank of Saipan Red Sox on top of the 16-team field.
Lizama held McDonald’s to three earned runs on five hits with four strikeouts and one walk in pitching two scoreless innings.
He relieved Lancaster Secharmidal, who lasted 3.1 innings on the mound giving up eight earned runs on 10 hits with six strikeouts, and one walk.
Keola Camacho went 1-for-3 but had a two-RBI inside-the-park home run that highlighted Ol’Aces’ six-run third inning scoring barrage.
The Dolphins, meanwhile, relied on the heroics of Jonah Pangelinan and Roque Camacho in pulling off a 9-7 decision against the Tan Holdings Athletics.
Pangelinan went 2-for-3 scoring two runs and also pitched two scoreless innings with no hits, three strikeouts, and five walks. Camacho, who gave up one hit, had two strikeouts, and seven walks relieved him.
Frank Blas closed out for the Dolphins and was tagged with two earned runs on one hit with eight strikeouts and three walks.
Camacho also went 2-for-3 with a double, one run, and two RBIs, while lead off batter Josh Trinidad went 1-for-3 with a two-RBI inside-the-park homer.
