A total of 22 teams have already signed up for the 2008 edition of the Annual Jam Attack Indoor Volleyball Tournament as action begins at 6pm today at the Gilbert C. Ada Gymnasium.

As of press time, 12 teams will be competing in the men’s division, while 10 have signed up in the women’s side. At least two to three more teams are expected to join in both divisions since yesterday was the deadline for submission of entries.

The final number of teams and tournament format was not available at press time.

The tournament is also expected to attract squads from neighboring Tinian and Guam, while teams that joined the inaugural Indoor Winter Volleyball League are also expected to vie for this year’s title.

The Northern Mariana Islands Volleyball Association is organizing the three-day tournament, which ends on April 6 when the men’s and women’s division championships will be played.

Last year, Guam teams used the Jam Attack as a warm up for the Pacific Games as their men’s and women’s squads dominated the three-day competitions.

Team Quality downed Isa Masters, 25-15, 26-24, in the women’s division, while Haggan squeezed out a 25-23, 25-19 win in the men’s.

Named Most Valuable Players in the men’s and women’s divisions were Brian Pangelinan and Francine Hoebing

A total of nine teams competed in the men’s division, while 18 battled for the women’s division title.
