Langdon Jr. now a Washington State Trooper
Michael R. Langdon, Jr. graduated on April 15, 2008, from the Washington State Patrol Academy and was commissioned on April 16 as a Washington State Trooper in Olympia, Washington.
Langdon was one of 49 cadets to complete the intense, 11-month training course. He stated “It took a lot of sacrifice, patience, and perseverance, but it was all worth it.”
The ceremony was held at the State Capitol Rotunda. Several dignitaries were on hand to deliver speeches and congratulatory remarks. Washington Governor Christine Gregoire said in front of a standing-room only crowd, “Today the class joins the finest state patrol organization of the entire United States.”
Langdon served as a police officer in Saipan for seven years and gives credit to the officers as well as the command staff for the fine training and guidance he received while working for the Department of Public Safety.
When asked what he considered was the biggest difference between working on Saipan and Washington as an officer of the peace, Langdon laughed, “At the top of the list, it’s got to be the ice-cold weather. It gets really cold during the winter. Even now in the spring, it still snows. Roads become covered in ice and snow and only add to the traffic congestions.
Longtime residents of Dandan, Saipan, Langdon and Mona Pangelinan Manglona now reside in Federal Way, Washington, along with their three children.
Langdon is proud to say that he is the first and only one from Saipan to complete training and become a Washington State Trooper. When asked for any words of encouragement, he smiled and said “anything is possible when you put your mind to it.” (PR)
