Take Care Insurance is newest major sponsor of 2008 MMAC
The 2008 Marianas March Against Cancer Committee is pleased to welcome Take Care Insurance as the newest major sponsor for the 2008 MMAC.
To become a “major sponsor” a business must donate between $1000-$2999 in monetary or in-kind goods. Take Care Insurance joins other 2008 MMAC major sponsors Shell Marianas, Younis Arts Studio, Saipan Mayor’s Office, Angil Design, HANMI, Pacific Trading Company and Staywell Insurance
The 2008 MMAC title sponsors—companies who have donated $3000 or more in monetary or in-kind donations—are Duty Free Shoppers, PTI, Joeten Charitable Foundation, Northwest Airlines, Bank of Guam, Sorensen Media Saipan, Power 99 and 97.9 The KAT.
Things are gearing up for the annual Marianas March Against Cancer, the largest fundraising event in the CNMI that supports the battle against cancer. The MMAC is the signature fundraising event for the Commonwealth Cancer Association, a volunteer-led non-profit organization that ensures all funds raised are spent locally.
Last year the MMAC raised over $80,000. The Committee hopes to surpass that amount this year to help promote cancer prevention and awareness programs and to support cancer patients. Cancer is one of the leading causes of death in the CNMI and the world and the MMAC is just one way of showing our support in the seemingly endless battle against this terrible disease.
The 2008 MMAC will be held at the Hopwood Junior High School Track & Field in Chalan Piao on May 16-17 from 6pm to 6am. The entire community is encouraged to come down to the MMAC for what promises to be a fun night for the whole family to enjoy. There will be live entertainment, food and drinks for sale, fun and games for children and adults, and a booth with cancer statistics available for anyone interested. There are raffle prizes to be won including free tickets to anywhere in Asia and the U.S. courtesy of Northwest Airlines. There will also be a digital camera, cell phones and other great raffle prizes courtesy of PTI.
Luminaries are currently being sold to the general public so that we may remember those who have lost the battle against cancer, and so that we can honor those who have survived or are currently suffering from this affliction. Luminaries can be bought for only $5.00 each. To purchase a luminary or for more information please email Kim A. Concepcion at kimconcepcion@yahoo.com or Francella O. Iginoef at franzzy_7@hotmail.com.
So far there are 15 teams participating in the 2008 MMAC in three different categories: Puti’on (Corporate): Pacific Islands Club, Tan Holdings Corp., PTI/Marianas High School, Hyatt, Bank of Guam/Garapan Elementary School and Marianas Health Services; Pulan (Family): Ahu, Bodig and Magi; Atdao (NGO/Government): Marriage Encounter, Frenz Gi Hinemlo, Hinemlo (DPH) and Northern Marianas College; Napu (School): Grace Christian Academy and Whispering Palms.
On the evening of the 2008 MMAC a dinner banquet will be provided for all cancer survivors who wish to attend. Seats are limited so please contact Nora Sablan at 235-0998 or via email at norasablan@gmail.com to confirm your attendance.
