Basketball is one of the most popular sports in the CNMI and PTI, the CNMI’s communications leader, recently signed on to help local cagers by sponsoring the newly named PTI Inter-Government Basketball League.

PTI’s donation means that all of the teams fielded by government agencies will pay a reduced amount for their respective registration fees when they take the court for the opening tipoff on Monday, May 12, at the Gilbert C. Ada Gymnasium.

According to league coordinator Joey Dela Cruz, the 13-team field will include defending champion Office of the Public Auditor and last year’s runner-up Northern Marianas College-Proa.

Returning to gain a piece of the championship pie are the Department of Community and Cultural Affairs, Commonwealth Health Center, Department of Corrections, Airport Rescue Fire Fighters, Tinian, Aguaguat, Ports Police, Legislature, Fire, Department of Public Works/Procurement and Supply, and Mayor’s Office.

PTI regularly supports youth and adult teams in a vast number of sporting events as part of its continuing commitment to the people of the CNMI. Sponsoring the PTI Inter-Government Basketball League is just another way the company that bills itself as “Your connection to the world” to stay connected to its roots here in the CNMI.
