10 are selected for Coral Reef summer internship

Ten students were selected for the coral reef internship program this summer. For the next 12 weeks, interns will work on coral reef management projects at Coastal Resources Management, Division of Environmental Quality and Division of Fish and Wildlife.
Interns assigned at CRM:
-Francisco Palacios – Education/Outreach, Mentor: Brooke Nevitt
-Andrew Moses – Coral Monitoring, Mentor: John Starmer
-Leovita Cabrera – GIS, Mentor: Julie Duenas
Intern assigned at DFW:
-Teresa Miller – Marine Conservation, Mentor: Marianne Teregeyo
-Phillip Johnson – Fisheries, Mentor: Steve McKagan
Interns assigned at DEQ:
-Jose Quan – Coral Monitoring, Mentor: Dr. Peter Houk
-Matthew Blanco – Education/outreach, Mentor: Reina Camacho
-Georgia Cabrera – Watershed Management, Mentor: Kathleen Herrman
-Daniel Villegas – Education/Outreach, Mentor: Fran Castro
-Solomon Castro – GIS, Mentor: Yubert Alepuyo
At the end of their internship, they will conduct presentations on their coral reef projects. The goal of the internship is to provide postsecondary students with hands-on experience working in the natural resources agencies: DEQ, Division of Fish and Wildlife and the Coastal Resources Management Office.
