Roscow-Sharry, Kennedy-LeBlanc top Seaside Grill
The tandems of Jazz Roscow and Larry Sharry and Heather Kennedy and Nicole LeBlanc topped their respective divisions in last weekend’s 10th Annual Seaside Grill Beach Volleyball Weekend played at the Pacific Islands Club’s sand courts.
Roscow and Sharry won the men’s division Sunday after beating Bruce Berline and Chris Nelson in the finals, 15-8.
The duo, who got a bye in the first round, was a bit shaky in their semifinal game match against Tyce Mister and Dale Roberts before prevailing in a score of, 15-12.
Berline and Nelson, for their part, advanced to the finals after overcoming Marino Pungilug and Keoni Ichihara, 15-13. The tandem earlier dismissed the brother-brother pair of Greg and Jeff Elliott, 15-10, in the first round.
Mister and Robert advanced to the second round after beating Nick Swaim and Rob Jordan, 15-10.
In the women’s division, Kennedy and LeBlanc won the championship after beating Laurie Peterka and Linda Anastacio in the finals.
Kennedy and LeBlanc went to the championship round after beating Angie Mister and Nikki Gabaldi. Peterka and Anastacio, meanwhile, earned the finals berth after overwhelming Amber Roberts and Ann Jordan in their own semis match.
First round matches saw Mister and Gabaldi take out Amanda Puleo and Lindsey Sosovec and Roberts and Jordan eliminate Felicia McFarland and Kegn Hall.
The Roscow-Sharry and Kennedy-LeBlanc teams received cash prizes that were determined by the number of entries in the tournament.
Aside from exciting volleyball action, players that signed up were also given complimentary drinks courtesy of Pacific Trading Co., as well as waterpark passes for each of the two days of the tournament.
