Host PTI continued its domination of the Inaugural PTI Inter-Government Business Basketball League, scoring a 105-87 victory over fellow guest team Bank of Guam Monday night at the Gilbert C. Ada Gymnasium.

The game started even-steven with both teams logging in 23 points in the opening quarter.

But PTI began to take control of the ballgame in the second with center Kevin Fitial combining with swingman Ryan Sanciangco and reserve Brad Ruszala to help the hosts to an 11-point lead, 52-41, at the halftime break.

Team mainstays Poland Yamada and Edsel Mendoza then took over in the third as the two big men scored six points apiece as PTI increased its advantage to 15 points, 76-61, heading into the fourth and final quarter.

Fitial then put on the finishing touches to PTI’s victory against BoG, as the Big Hit muscled his way inside for 10 fourth quarter points to cap the team’s 18-point win.

Fitial led PTI in its sixth win in as many games with 23 points, while Sanciangco, Mendoza, center Bruce Berline, and Yamada scored 10 or more points in the victory.

James Villacrusis scored a game-high 29 points in the setback with Jason Taiscan adding 17. Center Charlie Peters and forward Randy Pelisamen also chipped in 13 apiece. It was the fourth loss in 10 games for BoG.

In the second game, Department of Corrections kept pace with the league leaders by thumping Legislature 91-73.

DoC led from the get-go and was paced by the 17 points of power forward Jeff Quitugua and guard Luis Iguel.

Joel Punzalan had 17 points for the team from Capital Hill, while the father-and-son combo of Ray and Ernest Duenas each fired 12 points.

The win was the fifth in seven games for DoC, while the loss dropped Legislature to 4-6 in the team standings.

On Friday, PTI drubbed Commonwealth Ports Authority, 104-55, in the opener for its fifth win.

NMC, meanwhile, improved to 6-1 after a 99-89 win over Department of Public Works in the second game. CPA and DPW now sport 0-6 and 2-5 records, respectively.
