Coalition for ethnic minorities holds meeting

The Coalition for Recognition, Equality and Advancement of American Ethnic Minorities is inviting all concerned ethnic minorities to a membership meeting today, Aug. 2, 2008, at 5pm at the Alanar Compound, Chalan Piao, Saipan across Hopwood Junior High School.

Agenda for the meeting include the all-out registration campaign for new voters; re-registration of voters who failed to vote during the mid-term elections; upcoming meeting with the candidates for Washington delegate; the plight of the CNMI permanent residents, long time residing guest workers with or without U.S. citizen children, Trust Territory period-born children, Immediate Relatives married to locals; upcoming get together picnic and other topics of interest.

The weekly meeting is conducted through an open forum style where everyone has the privilege to speak their mind and in their native tongue if they cannot express it in English. A consensus is voted and adapted as a rule for majority decision on any topic that is raised for discussion.

So far, CREAM has a registered membership of over 300 individuals composed of registered voters, new voters, parents and long-time resident guest workers. Membership interest is spreading and continuing. [B][I](PR)[/I][/B]
