For the past several weeks, eight musicians from Saipan have been rehearsing with the Guam Territorial Band, to prepare for performances at the 2008 Beijing Olympics.

On Sunday, the group finally had its first performance, playing music with the 2,008-member strong Olympic Orchestra made up of musicians from China, the United States, Japan, Australia, New Zealand and Guam.

Sunday’s performance was historic in that it was the first time foreigners performed at the iconic Tiananmen Square. The Guam and Saipan band members performed again on Monday, at the Great Wall.
