HAGATNA, Guam—First Hawaiian Bank is donating furniture from its old Tamuning Branch along with a $2,500 contribution to the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Guam, according to a bank statement issued yesterday

Laura-Lynn Dacanay, FHB’s senior vice president, Guam and CNMI region manager, and vice president and Tamuning Branch manager Peter Valdez presented a check for $2,500 in addition to the furniture donation to Victor P. Camacho, executive director of Guam’s Make-A-Wish Foundation.

“First Hawaiian Bank has been a longtime supporter and friend of the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Guam. Through their annual Kokua Ma`i campaign, employees from Dededo, Maite and Tamuning branches donate over $4,000 each year. Adding this contribution of furniture and funds serves as a strong reminder of First Hawaiian Bank’s commitment to Guam’s local community. Through First Hawaiian Bank’s generosity, we will continue to fulfill our mission to grant the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions to enrich the human experience with hope, strength and joy,” said Camacho.

“First Hawaiian Bank is delighted to have found a new home for the furniture from the old Tamuning Branch,” said Dacanay. “We are glad to support the Make-A-Wish Foundation which has been granting wishes to children in our island community.”

Through the generosity of donors and sponsors, the Make-A-Wish Foundation, a non-profit organization, grants wishes to children with life-threatening medical conditions to help speed their recovery or to just put a smile on their face.

First Hawaiian Bank, with assets of $13 billion, was founded in 1858 and is Hawaii’s oldest and largest bank. This year the bank is celebrating 150 years in business, including 38 years on Guam. It has 58 branches in Hawaii, three on Guam and two on Saipan. (FHB)
