Miss Marianas Universe pageant in October

Stellar Marianas, the islands’ non-profit pageant organization, is now recruiting candidates for the 2008 Miss Marianas Universe Pageant, tentatively scheduled for Oct. 18, 2008.

Women with ages 17-25 year old will have the opportunity to represent the CNMI as its ambassador to the world and be a positive role model for the communities of Saipan, Tinian, Rota and the Northern Islands.

The winner will be crowned the 2009 Miss Marianas Universe to compete in the 2009 Miss Universe in May and the 2009 Miss International Pageant in September.

Contestants will automatically receive free hair and make-up training, free nutrition and fitness training, free model portfolio, free media and public speaking training, a goodie bag from Stellar Marianas, opening number outfits, swimsuits and two month worth of fun community events and activities.

The titleholder could win $1,000 cash, $1,000 scholarship award, all expense-paid travel to the Miss Universe and Miss International pageants and a list of other fabulous prizes.

Contestants have to 17-25 years old, U.S. citizen, single (not married), have no children, and of good moral and ethical character.

“As a contestant, you will learn how to be confident on stage, meet different people, understand the virtues of competition and earn the chance to represent your islands to the best of your ability,” said national director Neda Camacho.

“As a titleholder, your world just changes. There will be many opportunities for you to grow, boost your career and education through the scholarship awards as well as help to better your community,” she said.

Applications are available at Marianas Variety office in Garapan and are due on Aug. 29, 2008.
