The simple act of recycling saves our resources for the future.

To People: We do not have space for waste nor do we have extra cash to spend. Products made from raw materials cost more than if they were made from recycled products.

To the Environment: Recycling reduces the need for raw materials and uses less energy. The chemicals and greenhouse gases released from the rubbish in landfills can be prevented, if the products were recycled instead.

Below are some interested facts about recycling:
Aluminum Aluminum cans can be recycled and ready to use in just 6 weeks.
More than 50% of a new aluminum can is made from recycled aluminum.

Glass Glass is 100% recyclable and can be used again and again. We save over a ton of resources for every ton of glass recycled — 1,330 pounds of sand, 433 pounds of soda ash, 433 pounds of limestone, and 151 pounds of feldspar.

Paper Recycling 1 ton of paper saves 17 mature trees, 7,000 gallons of water, 3 cubic yards of landfill space, 2 barrels of oil, and 4,100 kilowatt-hours of electricity — enough energy to power the average American home for five months.
It takes 24 trees to make 1 ton of newspaper.

Plastic Most families throw away about 88 pounds of plastic per year, which could otherwise be recycled.
Plastic can take up to 500 years to decompose.
