Oakies vs. No. 4 in opener of Miller Lite beach volleyball

MHS Oakies will square off with Team No. 4 in the opening game tonight of the 2008 Miller Lite 4-Person Beach Volleyball Fall League at the Pacific Islands Club.
The league will kick off at 5:30pm. A total of 11 teams are participating in the two-month long event, organized annually by PIC since 1998.
Three other games will follow after the Oakies vs. No. 4 season opener.
Off Twice will meet MHS Peers in the second game at 6:30pm, while Team No. 2 will face Team No. 7 in the third game at 7:30pm.
Capping the opening night of hard action will be the match-up between Team. No. 3 and Enyophase at 8:30pm.
In the second playing date on Thursday Sept. 25, No. 3 takes on MHS Peers, MHS 67 Doh-Fins vs. Karakuchi, No. 2 vs. MHS Oakies, and Enyophace vs. No. 7.
Games on Sept. 30 will be Karakuchi vs. MHS Serves UP!, MHS 67 Doh-Fins vs. MHS Oakies, No. 4 vs. No. 7, and Off Twice vs. Enyophace.
As of yesterday afternoon, five of the 11 teams that are participating this year have yet to give their team monikers.
PIC Saipan sports manager Lindsey Sosovec said she expects that the teams will submit their team monikers within the week because sometimes teammates like to brainstorm about their monikers.
The teams will play in a single-round robin elimination to determine the seeding of the Top 8 that will advance into the playoffs with the No. 1 finisher to meet No. 8, No. 2 vs. No. 7, No. 3 vs. No. 6, and No. 4 vs. No. 5.

Last year, Raw Juice scored an anticlimactic 15-6 win over Bakkery to end the top seed’s 13-game winning run and in the process win the championship of the 2007 Miller Lite 4-Person Beach Volleyball Fall League at the Pacific Islands Club sand courts.
