Isaiah returned to its winning ways whipping defending champion Jeremiah, 81-69, in the 2008 CIM-FCC Inter-Color Basketball League-3rd Genesis Cup Saturday night at the CIM-FCC Basketball Court in Gualo Rai.

Isaiah had its two-game winning streak snapped by rival Daniel, two weeks ago, 66-62. But with Jun Tabora joining its roster, Isaiah quickly recovered and vented its ire on Jeremiah.

Tabora fired a season-high 42 points in his explosive Isaiah debut anded lift his team to its third win in four games.

Tabora made his presence felt early, hitting 24 points in the first half. Isaiah’s new recruit outgunned Jeremiah’s Amor Casabuena in the first 20 minutes of the game, as the latter scored only 15 points.

With Tabora’s guns blazing in the first half, Isaiah took a 41-32 halftime lead.

Tabora picked up where he left off in the second half, adding 18 more points.

In contrast, Casabuena was almost a no-show in the second half, making only two free throws.

Casabuena’s teammates also struggled in the second half after keeping Isaiah within striking distance in the first half.

Ador Dimaano was the lone Jeremiah player to nail more than two field goals scoring six points, while the rest of the team combined for only eight points.

Tabora outscored the entire Jeremiah crew in the second half, 18-16. The hot shooting guard also outgunned his teammates, 42-39, to make a mark in his first game this season.

Two other Isaiah players finished in double figures with Dindo Pablo and James Wabinga chipping in 12 apiece.

Casabuena paced Jeremiah with 17 points, while Dimaano contributed 16.

Jeremiah absorbed its second loss in three matches to remain in third place in the team standings.
